Position Summary.
We are on the lookout for a highly driven individual with a passion for the meat industry. This position will be responsible for supporting and procuring commodity meat products (pork, beef, chicken or turkey); while building and maintaining solid long-term relationships with counter parties in the meat industry across South America. The position clientele will include other traders, distributors, and meat processors.

Key Accountabilities:
Responsible for assisting the purchasing specialist in the management of portfolio of suppliers in the South America market.
Responsible in assisting in the execution, coordination and follow-up of buying and selling.
Consults with suppliers to secure product and/or service information, such as price, availability, and delivery schedules.
Ensure daily analysis of market trends and data.
Work closely with trade team and other sales teams to gain incremental business opportunities across all trade channels.
Work closely w/logistics and operations in order to satisfy customers (internal and external) needs and timelines.
Provide support to purchasing specialists to achieve sales goals and KPIs for the category.
Work closely with accounting and accounts payable to comply with all requirements, and to make sure aging is up to date and within parameters.
Provide support to team to ensure an efficient execution of trades.
Availability travels local and International up to 20%
Required Experience and Skills:
Minimum of 3+ years of procurement experience in the protein industry.
Knowledge of South American markets across the protein industry
Good connections with meat packers and end users. preferable
Highly organized and detail-oriented with strong focus on accuracy, while quick to learn
Excellent negotiation, oral and written communication skills
Enjoys helping and interacting with other people; always friendly and courteous
Excellent judgment and discretion in handling difficult situations
Strong work ethics and a natural team player who helps others succeed
Excited about enhancing its performance by leveraging the use of technology and our database to increase sales
Portuguese is a must. Fluent English and Spanish highly preferable.
